Jnana Skanda, Guru Guha

What is always NEW?
Muruga asks and Saint Avvaiyyar sings,
"Oh! Lord Muruga! - You are always NEW!
The beauty of your name is always NEW!
Your smile is ever NEW!
Songs, in your praise, are always NEW!
For Mother Paravathi, your playfulness, ever NEW!
For Lord Siva himself, the ever NEW -
is your 'Vel', your 'Mayil' and your 'Smile'!
For the Sun and the Moon, your radiance is ever NEW!

We Bow Unto You Who rides the beautiful Peacock holding the mighty Vel,
along with the Supreme Naaga and the elegant Rooster.
Oh Lord! who has the hue of the rising sun,
You are the Love embodied for Valli and Devayani.

This is a depiction of Ratnaabhishekam on the Yogeswara Paramatma Swaroopa Sri Krishnan. The painting shows Gopikas performing the abhishekam on Lord Krishna with rare and attractive ratnas (precious stones). The inspiration of this painting is from a very unique painting which I had seen at the Padmanabhapuram Palace, Thuckalay, Kanyakumari District in Tamil Nadu. The palace was the original base for Travancore Kings.
